Winterberg is a small holiday resort in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of Germany. The climate is pleasant all year round,
but the winter season is definitely the highlight and attracts many visitors from all over the world.
The Skiliftkarussell covers a total of 7 “mountains” and has over 27 kilometres of ski slopes. The Astenstrasse, Bremberg, Herrloh, Kappe, Kahler Asten, Sürenberg and the Poppenberg are part of this. The Poppenberg has a relatively long red slope with a good gradient. A beautiful blue slope can be found at the Schneewittchengang from the Bremberg. The highlight for the advanced skier is without doubt the Kappe along the chairlift of the same name.
The chance of being able to ski between 15 December and 15 March has increased to 90% due to the huge investments in snow cannons. As soon as the temperature and humidity allow, the snow cannons run at full speed to provide the slopes with a fresh layer of snow. The quality of this snow is so good that it can easily bridge warmer or wetter days. However, snow is never guaranteed in a low mountain range (and that is the Sauerland). With a 2-day ski pass, you can reach an even larger area. This pass also gives access to the slopes at Altastenberg, Postwiese-Neuastenberg and Sahnehang. These are accessible by shuttle bus from the Brembergkopfbahn. With the Wintersport-Arena-CARD you can also ski in other areas. This requires own transport.
On several slopes there are artificial lights, so that skiing is also possible in the evening.
Only Tuesday and Friday evening from 18.30 to 22.00 hrs with suitable snow conditions.
You will need a separate ticket for this, as the day and multi-day tickets are not valid.
The cross-country skiing tracks all start around the Kahler Asten. Here you will find about 170 km of trails. Beautiful wide, well prepared trails that are fanatically visited by hikers in the summer.
The routes vary from beginner to advanced level. Along the way you can warm up and relax in one of the many inns and restaurants.
